The youth basketball team from Punjab received a thunderous welcome

The boys’ U-17 Punjab basketball team received a thunderous welcome upon their arrival at Guru Nanak Stadium today, along with officials. The Punjab boys won the silver medal in the 38th Junior National Basketball Championship, which was held in Puducherry from April 9 to 15, bringing honor to the state and the Punjab Basketball Association (PBA).

With a thrilling exhibition of talent and tenacity, the Punjabi boys advanced to the final, where they faced Rajasthan. The Punjab lads showed great collaboration and skill in the championship game as well, but they faltered at the final moment, losing 77-81 to earn the first runners-up trophy and a monetary award of Rs 2 lakhs.

The tournament’s finest shooter, Mrigendra Singh of Punjab, was named the winner and received a cash reward of Rs 25,000.

PBA office bearers, including members of the district unit and general secretary Teja Singh Dhaliwal, were there to greet the group. PBA President Rajdeep Singh Gill’s congratulations were read aloud, praising the accomplishment.

Dhaliwal also praised Anoop Kumar, Baljeet, and Jaipal, the coaches, for their roles in this accomplishment. On the occasion were trainers Narinder Pal, Ravinder, Sukhwinder Singh, Parminder Singh, Vinod Chopra, and Veer Pal Singh Dhillon in addition to international coaches Rajinder Singh and Saloni.
