Three people were charged with bribery in order to be selected for the Uttar Pradesh cricket squad

Aspiring cricket player Satyaprakash Yadav has filed a First Information Report (FIR) against three individuals, including Akram Saifi, who is well-known to be a close aide of Rajeev Shukla, the vice president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), on allegations of fraud, intimidation, and breach of trust.

According to the police, he was tricked into paying money in order to be selected for the Uttar Pradesh cricket team, and when he requested the accused to refund the money, he threatened to terminate his playing career. This is why the FIR was filed at the Unnao city police station, according to the police.

According to a PTI report, police inspector Pramod Mishra attested that, in response to Satyaprakash’s accusation, a formal case has been made under Section 420, 406 of the Indian Penal Code, alleging criminal intimidation against Anurag Mishra, Anubhav Mishra, and Saifi.

According to the allegations, Anurag Mishra requested Rs 10 lakh from the victim, who allegedly handed him Rs 8 lakh in cash in addition to transferring some funds into Anurag and Anubhav’s accounts.

Nevertheless, the complainant’s complaint contains no reference to the vice president of the BCCI.

It’s noteworthy that cases similar to this have already been reported in Uttar Pradesh. The passion for cricket in Uttar Pradesh knows no bounds, and as a result, a lot of ambitious players wind up buying their way into the state’s selection panels in order to represent the state in competitions such as the Vijay Hazare, Ranji Trophy, and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

In the meantime, the Uttar Pradesh cricket team placed sixth in Elite Group B with only one victory in seven games, meaning it was unable to advance to the Ranji Trophy 2024 quarterfinals. Despite not losing a game, UP was unable to accumulate enough victories to advance to the quarterfinals.
