Watch: As RCB arrives in Chennai for their IPL 2024 opener against CSK, fans chant “Kohli-Kohli” at the airport

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 is almost approaching, and fans can’t wait to see the crazy that is cricket when it begins on March 22. It will be an exciting match as reigning champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) square off at the Chepauk in the season opener. There won’t be a shortage of home support for CSK since a sizable crowd will be there to support MS Dhoni and company. However, when the star-studded RCB plays the hosts on Saturday, the excitement around them won’t go away.

The Royal Challengers landed in Chennai on Tuesday night ahead of the tantalizing match after a sizable team event called “RCB Unbox” at the Chinaswamy Stadium. When the squad saw Virat Kohli leaving the airport and getting into the team van, a raucous group of supporters let out loud cheers.

The women’s team, which defeated the Delhi Capitals in the final last Sunday to win their first WPL championship, will serve as a major source of inspiration for the RCB. Despite playing for RCB for 16 years, Kohli has never taken home the IPL championship. The club has made three trips to the championship game, but each time it has come up short.

During the Bengaluru event on Tuesday, Virat Kohli expressed his desire to feel what it’s like to win an IPL championship this season.

It was very incredible. We were watching when they won the World League. With the trophies, perhaps, we can double it up, and that would be very wonderful, added Kohli.

The former captain said that he will rely on his expertise and skill sets to make this year’s IPL trophy victory a reality.

“I’ve always wanted to experience the thrill of winning an IPL title. Being a member of the squad that takes home the trophy for the first time, I will be present. For the sake of the supporters and the team, I will do all in my power and expertise to make it happen,” he said.
