With a cheeky remark, “Maybe Virat Kohli Will Miss IPL Too,” Sunil Gavaskar sparks speculation

The great Sunil Gavaskar pondered on Monday if star batsman Virat Kohli will participate in the next Indian Premier League, given that the cricket player has been missing the current Test series against England due to personal issues. On March 22 at Chepauk, the reigning champion Chennai Super Kings will play the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the first match of the IPL 24. The RCB talisman was initially included in the Indian Test team, but he withdrew before to the first match in Hyderabad. The cricket player and his spouse Anushka Sharma made an announcement about the birth of their second kid earlier this month.

Shaayad ho sakta hai ke IPL ke liye bhi na khele (Will he play…), kuchh cause ke liye khel nahin rahe hain. When asked whether Kohli would be eager for runs in the IPL given he would be returning to action after a lengthy absence, Gavaskar said somewhat cheekily, “He is not playing for whatever reason, maybe he may not play in the IPL as well.

During a Star Sports Star event, Gavaskar engaged in conversation with the students of the Indian Institute of Management, Ranchi.

According to Gavaskar, Dhruv Jurel, a wicketkeeper-batter for the Rajasthan Royals, may be this IPL’s breakout star.

Jurel, who was playing in only his second Test match, was named Man of the Match after he brilliantly batted for 90 runs and 39 not out in India’s five-wicket victory against England that ended the series.

“He could get a promotion in the hierarchy. Following this performance in the Test matches, Jurel may become a superstar. Even Akash Deep could have more opportunity to play the position of death over specialist in RCB, which they lacked in the previous season.” In addition, Gavaskar praised the Mumbai Indians for selecting Hardik Pandya as their captain, which allowed Rohit Sharma to bat freely without having to shoulder the extra burden of captaincy.

“To let Rohit focus only on his batting duties. He has had a hectic season between the World Cup and this series.

He will be able to play freely now that he is not concerned about other players. I have a strong sense that Mumbai Indians will find it quite beneficial.

It would be quite helpful for Hardik to have someone like Rohit to turn to. It will be fun for Hardik to have Rohit as “captain.”

“Let Rishabh take his time.”

In addition, Gavaskar is happy that his favorite player, Rishabh Pant, will soon be returning to action after a near-death vehicle accident.

“I also think highly of him. The most important thing, in my opinion, is that he return to full health so that he can visit and amuse us.

“He has a lot of work ahead of him and needs some time to develop that hitting fluency. but it’s excellent that he’s begun his training.

“Knee is essential for both keeping and hitting, even if he may not do both at first. Perhaps he won’t be the Rishabh Pant we know and love,” Gavaskar said.

“He can think quickly, no doubt about that. The Delhi Capitals captaincy should be passed to him once he returns to full health.

“Let us not give up. It is the first season since his return to full fitness. Let’s not push him to take a quick decision that might backfire,” he said.

“Pandit-Gambhir interaction is key, KKR dark horse”

Gavaskar named the Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings as his two favorite IPL teams, while he predicted Kolkata Knight Riders to be the underdog.

He said that the “interaction” between KKR’s previous IPL champion captain Gautam Gambhir and coach Chandrakant Pandit will be crucial to their success.

Given their strong personalities, the connection between Gambhir and Pandit will be crucial. The mix that they both create will be very important. If things work out, KKR has a great chance to win the championship.”
