Zlatan Ibrahimovic Disappointed With Transfer Of European Stars To Saudi Arabia

This summer, a number of European club football’s biggest names moved their headquarters to Saudi Arabia, following in the footsteps of Cristiano Ronaldo. Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who announced his retirement from the game of football earlier in June, has now spoken his view.

Ibrahimovic said that he, too, had some proposals from the Saudi Pro League during a conversation with Piers Morgan. They were disregarded by the Swedish great because he intended to finish his career in Europe. Ibrahimovic returned to Europe in 2019 after a successful stint with the Major League Soccer (MLS) team LA Galaxy, when he joined AC Milan for a third time.

I also received a proposal from China. I received a similar offer from Saudi Arabia, however the question is: what do you want? Which goals do you have? Ibrahimovic remarked on Piers Morgan Uncensored, “I mentioned before we began that certain players needed to complete their careers on the big stage because it is the pinnacle of your career.

Ronaldo left Manchester United in January and joined Al-Nassr of the Saudi Pro League. This summer, a number of prominent players have traveled to the Gulf country, including Karim Benzema, the current Ballon d’Or winner, and Brazilian ace Neymar. Neymar, who played for Paris Saint-Germain and won five Ligue 1 championships, is now the captain of Al Hilal’s front line. After ending his two-decade career at Real Madrid, Benzema has now joined Al Ittihad.

However, Zlatan Ibrahimovic believes that Neymar or Benzema made a poor choice.

“You have to be remembered for your talent, not for what you earned,” stated Ibrahimovic. Because if you were remembered in the other manner, what you would want to be remembered for is your skill, which is what we practice for every day and for which we are recognized. So, in my opinion, certain players who get to a particular level must cease at the major stage. You cannot go down a level and end your career differently. However, other players need circumstances in which they could make a lot of money since they did not.

The 42-year-old, however, seems pleased with the recent expansion of less well-liked football leagues like SPL and MLS.

Ibrahimovic participated in 827 games in all competitions during the course of his successful career, playing for various top European teams. He has 205 assists to go along with his 496 goals.
