King Charles Bestows New Title on Kate Middleton After Difficult Year

Kate Middleton was given the title of Princess of Wales by King Charles as a token of his appreciation for her increasing prominence within the royal family. Being a member of the Order of the Companions of Honor has added another title to her repertoire:

Royal Companion. Her youngest son, Prince Louis, celebrates his sixth birthday today, which happens to be the same day as this distinguished distinction. A fresh portrait was published by the palace to commemorate the event.
Seeing the “esteem [in which] she is held” by the princess was an honor that King Charles bestowed upon her, as he himself admitted.

The Independent said that she was one of many honorees, including Sir Elton John and J.K. Rowling, who received this prestigious title on St. George’s Day in recognition of their achievements.

The most excellent order of the British Empire bestowed the titles of Grand Master and First or Principal Dame Grand Cross upon Camilla, the queen consort, and Prince William, the most honorable knight of the bath, respectively, during a day of royal honors.

Celebrations like this take place when the royal family faces a difficult period due to the cancer battles of Princess Anne and King Charles.

As a precautionary measure, the princess must take a full leave of absence from public service while she receives chemotherapy. The palace initially broke the news of her health crisis in January, when they revealed that she was scheduled to have stomach surgery and would have a recuperation period lasting until Easter.

The Princess of Wales confirmed her cancer diagnosis after months of rumors.

A few months prior to her illness, King Charles received word of his cancer diagnosis.
