9,000 Rohingya lives are been identified by the UP Police

The Uttar Pradesh Police suspects that around 9,000 Rohingya have entered the country illegally via northeastern regions and have been residing in many districts across the state.

According to a senior police officer, the process of identifying them is under progress, and several additional illegal immigrants are probably going to be caught.

These immigrants live in camps outside of cities, along roadsides, next to bus and train terminals, and in slums that have lately appeared on vacant areas of cities.

On Monday, the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) conducted a thorough search to find illegal immigrants residing in the state and detained 74 Rohingya, comprising 55 men, 14 women, and 5 kids.

According to Prashant Kumar, special DG, the police have charges filed against the imprisoned Rohingya in six districts in western Uttar Pradesh.

Former DGP O.P. Singh said that after a circular he sent to all district police chiefs on September 30, 2019, the process of identification and verification of the Rohingya was carried out vigorously.

Before September 2019, it has been determined that at least 259 Rohingya were residing in the slums of Mathura and Lucknow.

It was discovered that they had all entered India illegally from Bangladesh.

An ATS representative said that the authorities had also learned that a Muslim cleric was giving Rohingya youngsters different forms of instruction, including courses in Urdu.

For the purpose of deporting illegal immigrants, police personnel have been instructed to provide the state government the verification report.

The official recommended that construction companies in several regions, particularly the National Capital Region, where such illegal immigrants often serve as laborers, be required to get the employees’ identification documents before employing them.
