Burning flat destroyed at Gaur City condo in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh; no casualties

An flat in Gaur City’s 16th Avenue community in Greater Noida West, Uttar Pradesh, caught fire on Thursday. One of the apartments on the second level of the housing complex was where the fire originated.

Thick smoke clouds rose into the sky as the occupants hurried to leave the building.

Ambulances were seen pulling up to 16th Avenue on camera.

In order to help put out the fire and protect the safety of the locals, fire crews from surrounding districts have been called in.

“A major fire broke out in the second-floor locked flat of a highrise in 16th Avenue, Bisrakh at 9.40 am,” said Pramod Kumar, the police officer in charge of Gaur City 2 at the Bisrakh police station.

After three fire fighters from adjacent stations raced to the site, the fire was contained at approximately eleven in the morning, according to Kumar.

SI Kumar said that the fire was brought under control at around 11 a.m. “After two hours of continuous efforts, three fire tenders from the surrounding fire station rushed to the spot and doused the flames as the fire station received information from residents.”

The owner of the apartment, Rahul Pandit, was abroad visiting Jammu and Kashmir when the fire broke out, according to preliminary findings. When the event occurred, the apartment was still locked.

“On the surface, it seemed that a short circuit caused the fire to start. To determine the precise cause of the fire, however, investigations are ongoing, according to Kumar.

According to the authorities, Pandit’s apartment was entirely destroyed in the fire, and some belongings to the apartment above him sustained damage.

“The highrise’s fire-fighting system worked, but fire tenders were called because the fire spread quickly,” he said.

Chief Fire Officer Gautam Budh Nagar said, “On Wednesday, Pandit departed from the apartment. To put out the fire, we smashed the lock with the assistance of the maintenance crew.”
