Muslim side opposes to Mathura mosque puja request

PRAYAGRAJ: On Wednesday, the management committee of Shahi Masjid Idgah in Mathura filed a challenge against a plea filed before the Allahabad high court by Ashutosh Pandey, a Hindu plaintiff, requesting permission to conduct ‘Bassoda Puja’ at ‘Krishna Koop’ near the mosque.
The High Court has scheduled a hearing on April 1 to consider a total of 18 petitions regarding the issue that were moved from different Mathura courts.

Applications questioning the suit’s maintainability are being heard by Justice Mayank Kumar Jain.
According to Pandey’s plea, on the occasion of Bassoda Puja, Hindu devotees conduct “puja and archana (prayer rituals)” on the grounds of the contested property annually. This year, these celebrations coincide with the dates of “Mata Sheetla Saptami” and “Ashtami” on April 1 and 2, respectively. Pandey claimed in his appeal that the Muslim community is preventing Hindu devotees from carrying out the puja.
The Muslim side said that while the suit’s maintainability was still being considered by the court, no decision about such a plea could be made.
