Mercury is soaring as Prayagraj sizzles

Prayagraj: The sky in April is turning into a raging fire in the city as a result of the temperature skyrocketing and staying over 40 degrees Celsius for the last week.
The lowest temperature is 24.7 degrees, although the temperature is always fluctuating, even reaching 43 degrees.

According to the Met Department, residents won’t be receiving any reprieve from the current hot wave as the temperature will continue to rise with occasional hailstorms.

The northern plains’ dusty conditions and consistently high temperatures are the result of macro-level environmental manipulation, which undoubtedly has an impact on the microclimate in certain regions of a continent.

The next several months would be just as warm with sporadic thunderstorms, which would not be ideal for crop harvesting.

There seems to be no break from the heat, according to the Met department as well. Hot, dry summer weather is nothing unusual at this time of year; the only thing that is different is that it isn’t inclining steadily, which suggests some unpredictable behavior. The hot weather would, however, be quite beneficial as it would foster “loo” in the northern plains, which would result in an area of low pressure. After that, winds from the high pressure system over the Bay of Bengal would surge towards the northern plain, filling the area of low pressure and bringing the monsoon on schedule.

Farmers are optimistic that this year would have a favorable monsoon despite the spike in temperature.
Meja farmer Rinku said, “In our experience, whenever there are constant hot conditions, ‘loo’ starts blowing which is of prime importance in bringing a normal monsoon.”
