After Google announced layoffs, a former employee shared this terrible experience, “I almost cried out.”

As part of a recent cost-cutting measure by its parent firm, Alphabet, Google fired off a large number of people, including the entire Python team.

Numerous tech migrants in the sector were impacted by the big giant’s decision. A former employee of Google shared his experience of realizing his tenure at the firm was coming to an end on LinkedIn.

Two-year Google employee Matt Hu, a software engineer, described the emotional reaction to hearing the news.

“Last night was the longest night in my life,” he wrote in his opening line. Yesterday, I worked from home, made a large supper with my partner, and then watched the reality program on television. I informed my girlfriend that, for the first time in my two years at hashtag#Google, I would need to prepare for the interview tonight.

Everything started with an odd-looking email notice about a “StopInstance operation,” which set off a sequence of events that resulted in a statement concerning his job status. Hu spoke on the strange time he accepted the end of his Google career and lost access to company resources.

“Therefore, I had the longest five minutes of my life as I watched as I was denied access to one website by another, had to forcefully restart my laptop, and eventually received an email titled “Notice affecting your job.” over to that point, I began to realize that my time at Google was over,” Hi continued.

Hu found that the effects of the layoffs had not only affected him personally, but also his coworkers and direct manager. Hu discovered that his reporting manager had also lost their job.

“My hands are shaking as I write this email,” the manager wrote, and I could feel them shaking as I read. He has worked with Google for about 13 years; he started our team from the very beginning and created everything from scratch. However, he had to say goodbye to his child and was only allowed access to Gmail inside the company.

Hu received a lot of support from other users who sympathized with him and vented their rage at Google in response to his article. In a comment on the internal resource allocation, user Serge B said, “I don’t grasp it. Instead of doing the right thing and reallocating internal resources, Google is interviewing and promoting for new opportunities while having a large number of candidates who are trapped in team matching. Likewise with the other FAANGS. It is really deplorable. I regret that this continues to occur.

Another user left a kind remark for Hu on the page, saying, “I’m really sorry about how this affected you. But if you’re looking for a new position, you may try using the Goldman Sachs employment page. Let me know when you discover anything that works for you. I will investigate and gladly recommend you. I also wish you well in all of your future endeavors.
