Five Maoists Are Arrested In Ballia By UP ATS

Five members of the outlawed Community Party of India (Maoist) have been detained by the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) in the Ballia area.

Tara Devi, Lallu Ram, Satyaprakash, Ram Murat, and Vinod Sahni have been named as the people who have been taken into custody.

In addition, a 9 mm weapon, ammunition, and Maoist literature were found in their hands by the police.

Prashant Kumar, Special DG (Law and Order), said that the gang was attempting to enlist young people for their organization’s growth and plans to sow disturbance throughout the nation. He said that a man named Pramod Mishra established a different ad hoc organization with Ballia resident Santosh Verma serving as its secretary after the death of central committee member Sandeep Yadav, also known as Badka Bhaiya.

The SDG said that “this group was recruiting young men and women by brainwashing them for an armed rebellion against the Indian government” and that it “regularly keeps moving in different districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh.”

After that, an ATS squad carried out a raid in the Basantpur hamlet of the Sahatwar police station and captured them.

SDG Kumar said that Tara Devi led the women’s wing and had been involved with the organization since 2005. Pramod Mishra, the head of the Maoists, used to live with her. Kumar said, “Tara is also well-known for a bank robbery in Bihar during which she murdered two police officers.

Tara coordinates the party’s recruitment campaigns and engages in extortion ring operations.

Lallu Ram, another suspect who has been detained, has been connected to the group since 2002. The officer said, “He used to distribute Maoist literature and maintains his reach with adivasis and those living in rural areas of Eastern parts.” He said that Satya Prakash is out and about with computers deceiving unsuspecting farmers by handing out anti-Indian government leaflets.

The ATS said that Ram Murat Rajbhar is a seasoned Maoist who arranges covert gatherings of the red ultras. Another suspect, Vinod Sahni, assists the group with weapons and ammunition as a Bihar-based arms smuggler. Senior authorities said that further members of the group will be arrested shortly in order to disrupt the network.
