After a prolonged summer break, schools in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, resume operations

For students in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, the summer break has finally come to an end. The academic year has restarted in both private and public schools as of today. Many governments have extended summer holidays for pupils due to heat waves, and Delhi and Uttar Pradesh were no exception. Due to the state’s extreme heat, the Uttar Pradesh Schools already extended the summer break till July 2, 2023. Originally, school in UP was supposed to start on June 27, however the announcement was postponed and prolonged until July 3, 2023. Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, presided over the meeting when the decision was made.

In comparison to the previous year, schools in UP prolonged the breaks to save pupils from the harmful effects of heatwaves and increasing temperatures. On June 21 in observance of International Yoga Day, the schools were reopened for a single day. From July 3, Uttar Pradesh schools will operate according to the previously scheduled timetable. Before reopening, it is necessary to ensure that toilets are appropriately clean, that people have access to water, and that children may sit in acceptable places.

In recognized schools run by the UP Basic Education Council, decisions on cleanliness shall be made by the school management committee. Before the school reopens, instructors have been instructed to see that all necessary duties at their various levels are finished. These obligations include making plans for lunchtime meals, managing DBT-related duties, distributing textbooks properly, and doing other pertinent errands.

Additionally, the Uttar Pradesh government launched a special effort to audit schools in the state from July 5 to July 31. The inspection will look at fundamental services including access to clean water for drinking, midday lunches, children’s restrooms, and other academic activities. Along with schools, council schools, madrasas, and aided institutions would also be subject to inspection.Earlier, primary school students were instructed to complete their summer assignments and coursework via the Diksha App. Due to projected high heat waves in various areas of Uttar Pradesh, the meteorological department has issued a yellow notice for the state.
