By February 2024, Agra Metro Service Will Open: Adityanath

The high-speed train experiment for the Agra Metro was launched on Wednesday by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who also announced that the service will start in February 2024. After landing at Agra’s Kheria Airport, Adityanath had a review meeting with the district authorities on the grounds of the circuit house.

He then launched the Agra Metro’s high-speed train testing at Taj East Gate Metro Station. He stated, “I am extremely delighted to report that the high-speed testing of the Agra Metro have now started. The group did an amazing job.

Five cities—Lucknow, Kanpur, Ghaziabad, Noida, and Greater Noida—have operating metro trains. According to Adityanath, Agra will become the sixth metropolis in the future and will provide lots of job possibilities, promote tourism, and improve its reputation internationally. “Metro services will be operational for the people of Agra by February 2024,” he said.

Sushil Kumar, the managing director of Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC), said, “UPMRC has consistently completed metro projects on time and ahead of schedule. By giving the people of Agra a top-notch metro system before the deadline, we will accomplish the same feat this time as well.

In the Agra Metro Depot, the metro’s low-speed testing were already in progress. “High-speed trials will now start on the 3-km-long elevated viaduct with three elevated stations, which is a part of the 6-km-long priority stretch (on the first corridor) that runs from Taj East Gate Metro Station to Jama Masjid Metro Station,” he said.

The Agra Metro Rail Project consists of two routes, each of 29.4 kilometers in length. The first corridor, which is 13.7 km long and comprises six elevated and seven subterranean stations, extends from Taj East Gate to Sikandra. The second corridor is 15.7 kilometers long and connects Kalindi Vihar to Agra Cantt. There are 14 metro stations along the elevated route.
