In UP’s Chitrakoot, a constable kills himself after his wife hangs herself

BANDA: In a hamlet in the Chitrakoot district of Uttar Pradesh, a 35-year-old policeman, after his wife ‘hanged herself’, shot himself with a government weapon.

Kusum Devi, 24, the wife of policeman Mayank Kumar Patel, hung herself at their home in the Devkali hamlet in the Raipura police station area on Monday night after midnight, according to SHO Raipura Shailendra Pandey.

As to the SHO’s statement, Patel, who was stationed in GRP Jhansi, unfortunately ‘finished his life’ by’shooting himself’ with his government weapon after his wife passed away.

SHO Pandey went on to say that Patel had brought his government weapon with him since he had gone home on April 21 after his service in the Bijnor area during the first round of the Lok Sabha elections. According to the SHO, the couple’s remains have been submitted for postmortem inspection, and inquiries into the event are still ongoing.
