U.P. is ranked second in NITI Aayog for implementing agri-marketing reforms

According to the NITI Aayog’s Agricultural Marketing and Farmer Friendly Reforms Index (AMI), which ranks states according to the extent of agricultural marketing reforms they have enacted, Uttar Pradesh is rated second.

According to Sachin Kumar Singh, deputy director of Mandi Parishad, “U.P. has been ranked second after Andhra Pradesh (94) in this year’s reform index released recently by the Aayog,” with a score of 92.

In implementing farm marketing reforms, he said, “Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Arunachal Pradesh were also found to be performing better than other Indian states on 13 parameters.”

Direct agri-marketing, e-trading platforms, single-point levies, single unified licenses, rationalization of market fees, rationalization of Bharatiya commissions, e-NAM modules, deregulation of fruits and vegetables, and exemption of goods from other states from mandi fees were among the criteria used to rank the various options.

“U.P. has executed the majority of the marketing reforms, providing a great atmosphere for conducting business in agriculture within the state,” said Singh.

In order to rate states and UTs according to how well they have implemented the seven provisions suggested by the model APMC Act, the Aayog created the index in 2016. Among other things, the conditions include joining the e-NAM effort and giving fruits and vegetables preferential consideration. These metrics show how simple it is to do agribusiness and how farmers may profit from contemporary trade and commerce.
