A fintech employee says, “My manager humiliated me in front of everyone.” She asks Reddit what to do next

Social media users are sharing a Reddit user’s article that offers advice on what to do when a supervisor makes fun of them. The manager allegedly yelled at the Reddit user in front of everyone in order to “assert dominance.”.

“My manager made me look bad in front of everyone.” What choices do I have?” the Reddit member asked. “There was a conversation over a design pattern that descended into a dispute. I was debating the incorrect point with two or three individuals. The problem is that they don’t seem to be fully aware of it either. To put the situation in perspective, the employee said, “It’s their hypothesis vs. my hypothesis.”

“Suddenly that manager screamed at me to assert some random point related to the discussion and later when I researched that point that point was wrong, but I didn’t say anything to anyone,” the Reddit user added. That shout was only an attempt to silence me and establish authority.

A day ago, the post was shared. The share has received about 400 upvotes since then, and the total is rising. People have also responded to the sharing with a variety of posts.

“Let it go for the time being and speak with your boss in private a few days later. Inform him that you were offended. You should switch teams or businesses if he isn’t making amends or showing concern, a Reddit member said.

I apologize; that did happen. Over the years, I have yelled at my teammates twice or three times in a ten-year span, and after each time, they have come to me to express their feelings of hurt and contempt. I instantly became a better person once they told me,” said someone another.

“Aim for reconciliation and be explicit about your feelings. Observe his behavior and response. You’ll be able to understand his character well. After that, take action. Remain calm; everyone has experienced similar things at some time in their lives,” said a third.

“Constructive criticism with a mechanism for redress: Talk to your management right away. Express your feelings to him. A fourth person said, “Ask him what caused it as well as how you can better to prevent it in the future.

Inform HR and upper management about your boss. Request that they send him to a management course. A fifth person said, “Tell me he’s demotivating to work under because he doesn’t know how to give feedback.”
