A Manchester man finds that living in a luxurious resort is less expensive than renting an apartment

A tenant in Manchester discovered something unexpected: renting an apartment in the city center is more expensive than living in an opulent resort. Josh Kerr made this discovery public in a TikTok video that has received close to 530,000 views.

A TikTok user found that they could spend as little as £938 (Rs 97,821) to book an all-inclusive resort in Turkey for 28 nights, while paying £950 (Rs 99,073) a month for their flat in the city center. Flights were included in the price.

He remarked, “I discovered that it’s cheaper to live in a 5-star all-inclusive resort than it is to live in Manchester,” in the widely shared video. So, I watched “On The Beach” and searched for choices for a single adult beginning on April 1 and lasting just 28 nights, commencing in Manchester.

“Find all-inclusive packages first, and then adjust the filter to display the cheapest prices first.” Check this out: it’s a five-star hotel with hold baggage included, so there aren’t any further fees. Additionally, you receive expedited security and 20 kilos of baggage. What more could you possibly want?

He said, “This is me, living in rainy Manchester,” as he pointed the camera out the window in the video. Observe the man; he has his umbrella out. When I stay at a five-star resort in Turkey, I won’t need that.

He gave an example of how he used On The Beach to get a discount at the Xoria Deluxe Resort in Antalya. According to recent statistics from Zoopla, Manchester’s central business district rents for an average of £1,163 (Rs 1,21,285) per month. Living there also means paying council tax, which this year costs £3,282.50 (about Rs 3,42,321) for band G or £1,312.99 (about Rs 3,42,321) for band A.

Josh said, “Even by appearance, this is a five-star hotel.” “For £900 (Rs 93,858) a month, it seems pretty average to me, but it’s decent.”

“Does WFH now mean working from holiday?” asked one user. One more said, “I work from home.” I think I could manage that,” one person said, adding, “Remote working appears even more enticing.”

Manchester is by far the most expensive city in Greater Manchester to rent a place. This is mostly due to the exorbitant rental costs in the city center.
