Anger after being laid off, an ex-TCS employee calls the Bengaluru office with a bomb threat

There was a bogus bomb threat at the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Think Campus on Hosur Road in Bengaluru, which sent workers into a panic. Employees were evacuated and the premises were thoroughly inspected after a former TCS employee called in a bomb threat to the Bengaluru office, according to report.

When the bomb threat was discovered, the Tuesday morning event prompted the workers to leave the office building right away. Authorities in the Parappana Agrahara region were notified of the call, and a team—including a bomb disposal squad—arrived at the school right away. Thankfully, nothing untoward was found after the thorough check of the facility by the bomb disposal and dog teams.

The management was given the go-ahead to let the evacuated staff to return and go on with their regular job once the authorities verified that the bomb threat was a fake.

The police said that the person who made the fictitious bomb threat was a Belagavi lady, who lives around 500 kilometers away from Bengaluru. She reportedly called a company driver after being fired by TCS, alleging that a bomb had been hidden in the campus’s B Block. Searches are being conducted to find and capture her after it was discovered that her animosity against the firm was the driving force behind the crime.

In the meanwhile, there have been other instances of fictitious bomb threats on TCS campuses prior to this one in 2023. A similar incident happened in May when 1,500 workers had to evacuate a TCS facility in Hyderabad due to a fictitious bomb threat. The unknown caller, who purportedly was a Bengaluru-based former TCS employee, said there was a bomb in the workplace.

The Tata Consultancy Services Kondapur campus security personnel promptly notified the police, starting the evacuation procedure. According to sources, this caller was recognized as a former TCS employee in Bengaluru who had been fired from the security branch.
