Can someone survive after having their head shot? We know the solution

The most delicate and complicated organ in the human body is the brain. Therefore, it is common for many of us to think that someone shot in the head has little chance of surviving. However, that isn’t always the case. There are several cases when individuals have recovered after suffering serious head wounds from gunfire. Seems improbable? Dr. Domenic Esposito, a neurologist, examined a series of X-ray photos that depict the effects of a gunshot on the human brain in an old video that 16 WAPT News presented on the subject.

Sanaa Hill, an eight-year-old Mississippi girl, was struck by a stray gunshot that was pointed straight at her head in 2010. At the Boys and Girls Club, she was working on her schoolwork when the horrible incident took place. In the same year, a heist left Jackson State University researcher Andrea Scott with two gunshot wounds to the back of her skull.

on college property. After receiving the necessary medical care in both instances, the sufferers were able to stand again.

Esposito, the UMC’s director of neurotrauma, may not have been involved in those incidents, but he was able to explain how Hill and Scott were able to live, the site said. In his explanation of the situation to the 16 WAPT News, he made the prediction that the victims may be transported to the hospital before the injury became worse and the physicians wouldn’t attempt to extract the bullet fragments from the skulls. Esposito further emphasized the fact that the bullets did not enter the brains’ central nervous system. They could have very little chance of surviving if this were to occur.

Esposito said that physicians can now treat gunshot wounds with merely antibiotics, when in the past, surgery was the only choice in such circumstances, underscoring the development of medical technology over the previous ten years. He said that transporting a gunshot victim to the operating room may be riskier since it can have a significant negative impact on the patient’s general health.

According to Esposito, who was mentioned by Lad Bible, “that actually could take a patient who might have done fairly well without such a radical treatment and turn them into an individual that did not do as well as they could have done.” The medical expert went on to say that the majority of these people he has seen so far have survived.
