Watch: How to Pick a Lock If the Key Is Lost

A video that goes viral on social media demonstrates how some individuals, who forget their keys, have broken the locks on their homes to gain entry. The video, which was posted on Instagram, opens with someone hurling gasoline from a container against a lock. Now someone lights a matchstick and uses it to burn the lock.

You can hear one of the people in the background suggesting that the lock will open on its own and that you don’t need to do anything. After a few minutes of waiting, others are seen questioning the individual who threw gasoline on the lock about why it isn’t opening. He brings a stone that is lying nearby and tells everyone that the lock will undoubtedly open. The lock unlocks with a single blow when he smashes it with this stone. He also told the crowd that the lock had a plastic covering that, when it comes into contact with fire, melts and causes the lock to open. There have been almost 6 million views on the video.

While applauding the lock-breaking technique, social media users pointed out that it might also be used for theft and break-ins. Funny enough, one user commented that these folks were getting ready for the next season of the suspense series Money Heist. The premise of the criminal drama television series Money Heist centers on an odd collection of thieves who want to carry off the most flawless heist in Spanish history: stealing 2.4 billion euros from the Spanish Royal Mint.

The creator of this lock-breaking method has asked viewers not to use it as an excuse to commit crimes. In the event that they misplace their keys and are left without a way to enter their homes, they may utilize them.

There are several alternative methods, such as drilling, screwing, using a rod, etc., to unlock the locks. The drill ruins the lock’s internal parts and makes it unusable in the future. The lock and other components of the door will need to be changed after the drilling.
