Watch: Visitors’ Exciting Ride Becomes a 60-Minute Nightmare Due to Power Outage

During the evening of January 4, an unexpected power failure left park visitors stuck on a high-altitude mechanical ride, throwing an amusement park in Guayaquil, Ecuador, into turmoil. The event occurred at a peak park tourist period, making the situation much more upsetting for anyone trapped in the blackout.

According to Euro ES Euro, the unplanned power outage left at least 20 passengers stuck in a mechanical rollercoaster, hovering in midair for an hour. The impacted ride, which was notorious for spinning riders at a high altitude, abruptly stopped, leaving riders momentarily stranded in the dark. The crowd’s anxiety quickly increased as a result of the blackout, adding to the tense environment.

According to BNN Breaking, rescue workers arrived to the riders’ location around an hour into the incident, despite the park being completely dark at the time. Their quick thinking and tactical maneuvering were essential to the successful rescue of the people stranded on the mechanical ride at a high altitude. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries.

Unfortunately, mishaps on amusement park rides are not uncommon. In a previously reported event, eight riders—including an 8-year-old girl—were locked at the top of a 72-foot-high rollercoaster at a UK amusement park, turning what should have been a fun ride into a traumatic encounter.

The eerie event happened at the Adventure Island theme park in Southend, Essex, according to SkyNews. For around forty minutes, the passengers were left stuck on the ride, dangling vertically, until authorities intervened to rescue them and securely return them to the ground.

The attraction, which was advertised as Adventure Island’s “biggest and best” rollercoaster with “loops, twists, and flat-out speeds,” malfunctioned at its highest point. Riders were left in a perilous scenario at the peak of the ride due to the unplanned stall, which caused a brief suspension of the thrill.

According to WION, Marc Miller, the general director of the Stockvale Group, which has been in charge of Adventure Island, “a carriage on Rage stopped on the lift just after 2 pm today.”
