Last opportunity to protect fundamental rights, according to Pinarayi Vijayan

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: According to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, this Lok Sabha election is the final chance for the people to defend fundamental constitutional principles like democracy and secularism.

In a statement released here on Wednesday, Pinarayi said, “This should be viewed as the last opportunity to resist the attempts to rewrite the Constitution, convert secular India into a religious country, and destroy constitutional institutions.”

According to the CM, democracy was undermined by the Sangh parivar regime at the Center.

The Parliament’s yearly sitting days were abolished during their rule. Investigation agencies have been abused to obstruct political parties’ freedom of speech and to undermine state governments run by opposition parties. Secularism, minorities, democracy, freedom, and national integration will all be in jeopardy if we miss this chance, the speaker said.

According to the chief minister, the Left Front bravely opposed the BJP administration. He added that during the Delhi riots, a Left politician stopped the bulldozers that were supposed to demolish Muslim homes.

“The Gujarat government’s decision to free the suspects in the Bilkis Bano case was contested by a left-wing politician. He said that Sitaram Yechury, the general secretary of the CPM, was the one who contested the electoral bond before the Supreme Court.

This time, the CM believed, the Left Front would become a powerful force in Parliament.
