G20 Meeting: On June 22–23, Patna will host the event; delegates are likely to visit the Bihar Museum

The G20 will have a two-day conference in Patna this month, and attendees would likely visit the state capital’s contemporary Bihar Museum the day before the opening ceremony, a senior official said.

The Bihar art and culture department has been designated as the event’s nodal organization, and preparations are being undertaken to make the delegates’ stay in Patna enjoyable.

Before the conference, the local authorities will decorate the city with banners with G20 themes, according to officials.

They said that the Patna G20 summit was originally scheduled for early March but was moved to June as a result.

The delegates’ schedules
According to him, 150 participants will attend the Labour Engagement Group’s G20 meeting on June 22 and 23.

According to organizers, the delegates will land in Patna on June 21 and stay at three of the city’s upscale hotels.

The first gathering will be held at the Samrat Ashok Convention Center next to Gandhi Maidan on June 22. The delegates will be treated to a gala dinner and cultural events at Bapu Sabhagar, which is situated on the same grounds as the Center, on that day, according to the senior official in the Bihar government’s Art, Culture, and Youth Department, who spoke to PTI.

There will be more meetings around the city on June 23.

On June 21 in the evening, the delegates would visit the Bihar Museum, according to the provisional schedule, he stated.

We aim to take the delegates to the ancient Patna Museum and the contemporary Bihar Museum for cultural excursions, in addition to the main event, a top official in the Bihar government had said in February. We will also take it into account when arranging whether they want to visit Nalanda or other historical locations.

Officials said that the delegates may still visit the Sikh shrine, Patna Sahib, but that the amended schedule limits the delegates’ cultural interactions to Patna alone.

Concerning the Patna Museum
At the Patna Museum, there are now on display artifacts from 1764 onwards. Pre-1764 artifacts have been relocated to the Bihar Museum, which was opened in 2017.

The Patna Museum is a true treasure trove and the location of a 200 million year old fossilized tree trunk in addition to a collection of rich artifacts and unique artworks. But since of June 1, it has been off-limits to tourists while undergoing renovations on the 95-year-old structure.

The Didarganj Yakshi, also known as the Chauri-bearer, is one of the most renowned exhibits at the Bihar Museum.

It remained one of the Patna Museum’s principal attractions until the sculpture and a significant number of artifacts were transferred to the Bihar Museum on Bailey Road.

The ancient Pataliputra, the seat of the Mauryan Empire, is now the historic city of Patna.

On December 1, India took over as head of the important alliance. Over the course of its one-year presidency, India will host more than 200 meetings at 55 different places around the nation, including both large cities and more modest ones, such as Hampi and Khajuraho, which are both rich in history and natural beauty.

The goal of selecting historic cities, among other locations, is to shine a “spotlight on heritage sites,” according to top tourism ministry officials.
