After criticism, Nitish Kumar apologizes for his comments on population control

Nitish Kumar, the chief minister of Bihar, issued an apology on Wednesday for his remarks about population control, after strong criticism from a variety of sources.

“I’m sorry if I offended anybody. Nobody was supposed to be harmed by it. I have always argued that population control requires education. After BJP lawmakers blocked the assembly’s main entrance, Kumar saw the demonstration and immediately rushed over to the reporters to apologize. “I have also stood for women’s empowerment and women’s development,” Kumar said.

On Tuesday, Kumar ignited a debate by highlighting how crucial female education is to population control. In the state assembly, he had presented a clear explanation of how a well-educated woman might constrain her husband during sex.

More births resulted from the husband’s actions. But as women get more educated, they are better able to control him, which is why there are fewer births. As journalists, you are also well-versed in it. The fertility rate was 4.3 before, but it is now 2.9. And we’ll get to two shortly,” Kumar had said.

Kumar’s comments were quickly criticized by the BJP, which called them “most misogynistic, vulgar, and patriarchal” and urged that he quit.

Union minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey said that Kumar’s comments have damaged democracy’s honor and decorum. “Making such a claim in front of the Assembly is just disgusting. Choubey said, “It appears he is mentally ill. He should resign and see a doctor right away.”

“The language used by Nitish Kumar inside the assembly is most vulgar, indecent, misogynistic, sexist, and patriarchal,” said BJP national spokesman Shehzad Poonawalla. The chief minister of Bihar thinks like this. From Shushan Babu, Kumar has evolved into a bekabu babu. Imagine the situation that the ladies of Bihar would be in if such a language is used in the legislature.

Tejashwi Yadav, the state deputy chief minister, corrected the comments, stating that Kumar was discussing sex education. It is incorrect, he argued, to read Kumar’s comments incorrectly. “Allow me to explain. The chief minister was discussing sex education, I believe. People become apprehensive about this subject, although science and biology classes in schools teach about it. Kids pick this up. He discussed the practical steps that must be taken to manage the population. Tejashwi said, “This should be seen as sex education rather than in the improper context.

In the meanwhile, Nitish Kumar came under fire from the National Commission of Women for his disparaging comments, claiming that he seemed to be speaking in the legislative assembly in front of female members as he was in a C-grade movie.

“We are quite worried about the disrespectful comments made by the Bihar Chief Minister yesterday. The guys seated behind him were laughing, and his speech in front of the ladies in the assembly sounded like dialogue from a C-grade film. His motions and behavior resembled an offensive joke. The worst part is that they still haven’t been erased by the Speaker.NCW Chairperson Rekha Sharma said, “The Speaker of the Bihar Assembly should take action against him and his statements should be removed.”

The governing alliance’s MLA for Congress, Neetu Devi, supported the chief minister of Bihar, claiming that Kumar had good intentions when he said. “He was trying to make a simple point but the BJP is indulging in mischief,” she said.
