Bihar’s Bahubalis: Why They Tensed Up for the Nitish Kumar-Led NDA in the Floor Test

Surprisingly, on Monday in the Vidhan Sabha, three rebel Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MLAs—’Bahubali’ Prahlad Yadav and the families of two other powerful individuals, Chetan Anand and Neelam Singh—sat on the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) side and supported the chief minister Nitish Kumar-led government during the floor test.

The Kumar-led NDA won the floor test with a resounding majority of 129 MLAs, excluding the deputy speaker of the governing party, with the backing of three RJD MLAs. On the first day of the 11th session of the Bihar Assembly, one MLA from Janata Dal United (JDU), Dilip Ray, was not present.

THE “KIDNAPPING” OF CHETAN ANAND
Chetan Anand, the son of Bahubali, former MP Anand Mohan, and former MP Lovely, gained attention on Monday when he was “evacuated” from Tejashwi Yadav, the former deputy chief minister,’s home at two in the morning. All RJD MLAs were camped for two days at Yadav’s house when SDM Patna and SSP arrived at about ten o’clock at night. Ayushman, Chetan’s younger brother, had filed a formal complaint with the Patna police, claiming that his brother Chetan had been abducted. On the third try, the police administration brought Chetan to his home after a little altercation with the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). Before the floor test, Anand Mohan and his son Chetan Anand visited CM Nitish Kumar at his home.

WHAT RESEARCHERS SAY
There are rumors that Vaishali or Sheohar, who are running on NDA tickets, have promised Lovely, the mother of Chetan Anand, a Lok Sabha seat. Lovely is now in RJD. According to sources, Chetan Anand may get an NDA seat in the Legislative Council in the event that he is disqualified.

Anand Mohan served 15 years in prison for the 1994 murder of G Krishnaiah, the Gopalganj district magistrate at the time, before being freed from Saharsa Prison in April of last year. Anand Mohan, a former legislator, was targeted by BJP lawmakers till recently due to his early release from prison. The Supreme Court is considering his request for an early release.

AFTER PLAYING CRICKET, I TOOK A WICKET.
In order to better understand Chetan Anand’s significant move, CNN-News 18 met with him.

You were seen singing and playing cricket at Tejashwi’s Residence up till yesterday. Why did you decide to reconsider?

You are all aware of the previous debate. There was disrespect to my father, and a son cannot overlook that. I’m not saying anything that isn’t relevant. This has occurred, and several complaints have fueled the flames. Despite being there at the celebration, my mother never received a post. Did she not deserve it? Even though I attended some of India’s best universities, the party termed me immature. Do you not believe that after being insulted on several times, my mother, father, and I have not acted appropriately?

Feeling resentment against Tejashwi Yadav?

I don’t have anything against the party leadership, but there were certain of them that made us feel uncomfortable. To me, Tejashwi resembles an older brother. After I objected to one of our RJD leaders (Manoj Jha, who brought up a poem by Thakur Ka Kuan), who was demeaning to my community of Rajputs, some of the party’s leaders began to harass me and my culture. The Thakur Ka Kuan incident occurred, during which a number of statements were made that were irrelevant to the present but were used to disparage our dignity. The event severely damaged our community’s feelings.

What took happened the night before?

I was prohibited from contacting my family for the previous two days because they were concerned about me. I attempted to leave Tejashwi’s house after a brief, tense argument with a few leaders inside, but I was denied permission to see my relatives. I needed the government to step in so I could return home. The last nail in the coffin was this.

What does your future look like in the NDA now?

I wish for the best outcome since I don’t now have an answer to it.

TWO MORE RJD MLAS WHO LEFT THE PARTY
Prahlad Yadav, who has a history of dominating the Bihar sand industry and who is facing several lawsuits, left the RJD side and joined Chetan Anand in a chair. His action within the Vidhan Sabha astonished every Mahagathbandhan MLA.

At night, Bahubali Anant Singh’s wife, Neelam Singh, another RJD MLA, was approached. Neelam Singh reportedly received assurances of a Lok Sabha seat. According to the reports, Anant Singh, her spouse, who is now serving a 10-year prison term in Beur jail for breaking the Arms Act after an AK-47 gun was found at his home, would also get relief.

Reversing Tejashwi’s “khela,” the NDA brought a Rajput (Chetan Anand), a Yadav OBC (Prahlad Yadav), and a Bhumihar (Neelam Singh) to their court.
