Satrangi dostana Restro, the first transgender restaurant in Bihar, debuts in Patna

People from the transgender community today inaugurated “Satrangi dostana Restro” in Patna for the first time in Bihar. It will be directed and run by members of the LGBTQAI community.
Twenty members of the neighbourhood will work together to run the restaurant. The manager, the cook, the housekeeper, and others would be included in this group of 20 persons. Melinda Pavek, the general director of the US embassy, and Sita Sahu, the mayor of Patna, opened the restaurant on June 23.
Reshma Prasad, the secretary of the transgender NGO “Dostana Safar,” proposed the concept for the establishment of an upscale restaurant and café in Patna. It is a neighborhood-based organisation that the Bihar government registered in June 2012 in accordance with the 1860 Act.

Reshma Prasad said to The Statesman that “our group is highly active with regards to the LGBTQAI individuals across the whole state. We arranged the first LGBT pride parade in Bihar back in 2012. In Bihar, we were instrumental in establishing the transgender and “Hijra” welfare board.
“We are grateful to Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) for donating a plot of land in the heart of the city so that this upscale restaurant could be built. It aims to provide transsexual people a respectable existence in society, according to Reshma.

The restaurant is two stories tall and features separate dining areas for young couples and regular patrons in addition to a well-equipped kitchen. Aside from this, there is a kid-friendly open-air restaurant.
The times on a daily basis would be 11 am to 11 pm. This restaurant for the transgender community, according to Reshma, would be the first of its kind in North India.
According to Reshma, the restaurant is funded via crowdsourcing and individual contributions. In addition to nine distinct coffee flavours, “we provide all varieties of Chinese cuisine, dosa/idli, and Indian meals. We will eventually broaden our selection of foods, Reshma promised.
