Ten thousand ads and banners removed once the model vote code takes effect

Noida: In the lead-up to the impending Lok Sabha elections, the district election department has taken down more than 10,000 posters and banners since the model code of conduct went into force on March 16. Additionally, in order to raise public awareness of polls, multiplexes are showing short films on elections.

Out of all the defacements that were removed, 9,361 were on district-wide public properties and the rest were on private ones.

Within 24 hours of the election dates being announced, all wall inscriptions, posters, banners, flags, and other forms of defacement need to be taken down, according to the Election Commission’s (EC) model code of behaviour standards.
In keeping with the EC’s flagship voter education programme, the Noida Election Department has also requested that the multiplexes broadcast 5-minute videos on elections prior to the film’s premiere in order to raise awareness among the public (SVEEP).
On Wednesday, Manish Kumar Verma, the district magistrate, met with officials to discuss election preparations. Nodal officers for personnel management, training, computerization and transportation, cyber security, SVEEP operations, law and order, media certification, and the monitoring committee were appointed by the DM.
The DM notified political party officials about the randomization of EVMs at a separate meeting.
In the meantime, because of the elections, the police and excise agency have increased their district checks. Two people were detained by the police and excise department on Wednesday in Noida for possessing illicit alcohol in two different incidents.
