We Asserted That We Would Defeat Fascist Forces: Tejashwi

Tejashwi Yadav, the deputy chief minister of Bihar, said on Saturday that “leaders from Kanyakumari to Kashmir” had made a commitment to thwart “Fascist forces” during an opposition party gathering Nitish Kumar had convened here.

Speaking with reporters the day after the meeting that received so much attention, Yadav also played down the tension caused by the Aam Aadmi Party’s contentious accusations against the Congress.

“The conference went off without a hitch. Every topic was discussed amicably, according to Yadav, a member of the RJD who attended the meeting with his father and party leader Lalu Prasad.

After the meeting, AAP representatives headed by Delhi Chief Minister and founder Arvind Kejriwal skipped the press conference and released a statement in which they claimed the Congress had “refused” to fight the Centre’s “black ordinance,” which had left the local government with no control over its staff.

Yadav further denied the assertion made by Amit Shah, the chief strategist for the BJP and the Union Home Minister, that the meeting was nothing more than a “photo session.”

They could understand photo sessions better than we do. The youthful leader remarked mockingly, “We work among the people. Leaders from Kashmir to Kanyakumari gathered at the gathering with the express objective of destroying fascist groups. The people, not Modi or anybody else, would be the focus of the next Lok Sabha elections, according to Yadav.

We all decided to collaborate in order to achieve this. At the conference in Shimla the following month, further plans would be created. In order to uphold the heritage of the JP movement and the Champaran satyagraha, Bihar has taken the initiative for the time being, he said.
