Apple Releases iOS 17.1.1 To Fix NFC Issues With BMW Car Charging

For all iPhone devices that are compatible with iOS 17, Apple has released iOS 17.1.1. This update fixes a fault in the weather widget and a problem with the NFC and wireless communication of the iPhone 15 series while charging with BMW wireless chargers.

A few weeks have passed since Apple published iOS 17.1, the first major iOS upgrade since iOS 17 in September of this year. Although this iOS version—for the iPhone 15 and older—does not include any new features, it does concentrate on fixing important flaws in the system.

This update addresses an issue that Apple states might arise in “rare circumstances” when using certain automobiles to wirelessly charge iPhone 15 models. These scenarios include the inability to use services like Apple Pay and other NFC capabilities. Notably, owners of BMW and Toyota Supra vehicles are also impacted by this problem. There were rumors earlier in the month that some iPhone 15 models’ NFC chips were malfunctioning while they were being wirelessly charged in BMW vehicles. BMW acknowledged the problem and said that it was collaborating with Apple to find a solution; it seems that this solution has already been completed.

The weather widget on the home screen not displaying snow is another issue that this update resolves. The “Weather Lock Screen widget may not correctly display snow” on versions earlier than iOS 17.1.1, according to Apple. This update fixes the issue just in time for winter in most areas of the globe.

iOS 17.1.1: Download Instructions

Initially, an iPhone that is supported is required. You may also get iOS 18 if you already have iOS 17. Proceed to Settings > General > Software Update after that. You must click on “Download and Install” here. To guarantee a seamless updating procedure, make sure you have a strong connection and that your battery is at least 50% to 60% before starting.
