How To Link A UPI Credit Card To The BHIM App And Which Banks Offer This Service

Unified Payments Interface (UPI) technology has, needless to say, been quite popular in India during the last three years or so. Cashless transactions were supported by the government during the COVID-19 outbreak, and UPI saw significant growth in India. Customers may now pay using credit cards while using UPI. Users were able to connect their RuPay credit cards with UPI applications last year thanks to RBI (the Reserve Bank of India).

For this reason, the RuPay credit card is often referred to as a UPI credit card. The same way you would typically use a bank account, the RuPay credit card may be used to make UPI payments. The funds will only be taken out of your RuPay credit account in this instance.

NPCI (National Payments Corporation of India) said that it has authorized significant aggregators including BharatPe, Cashfree Payments, Google Pay, Razorpay, Paytm, PayU, and Pine Labs in order to facilitate merchant transactions utilizing RuPay credit cards on UPI in the Indian market.

There are over 250 million daily UPI users in India, and close to 50 million of them utilize one or more credit cards. The RBI’s action is anticipated to combine the simplicity of both by providing customers with the quick payment experience of UPI as well as the benefits of short-term credit and incentives given by credit cards.

You must scan QR codes and the process is the same as paying with UPI using your bank accounts. However, if you have a RuPay credit card, you may pay online retailers or by just scanning the merchant’s UPI QR code. Some payments, such as P2P or paying credit card bills, are not possible. In addition to the BHIM app, a few banks have enabled their RuPay credit cards on a limited number of UPI applications, including PhonePe, Paytm, Google Pay, Slice, MobiKwik, PayZapp, and Freecharge.

NPCI operators may now integrate the BHIM app with 11 different banks’ RuPay credit cards.
