If an organization has a positive culture, the majority of Indian employees are likely to stay: Report

According to research, a considerable proportion of Indian workers attribute their devotion to a healthy organizational culture, making India the nation with the best workplace culture.

According to a recent SHRM study, 64% of Indian employees are inclined to remain if their employer fosters a positive workplace culture. This is much higher than the worldwide average among employees, which stands at 37%.

Based on 1,000 answers from India within a worldwide sample of 11,080 participants, the research found that equitable treatment, job security, and a positive organizational culture are the main factors that contribute to employee retention.

Achal Khanna, CEO of SHRM India, APAC & MENA, stated, “Specifically in India, the data reveals a noteworthy trend, with a significant number of employees expressing high ratings across all five dimensions: Work/Life Integration, Career Fulfillment, and Equitable Leadership Practices.”

The survey found that despite the supply chain disruptions, increasing prices, and economic upheavals that marked 2022 and 2023, workplace culture views in India remained significantly favorable.

“It is noteworthy that India’s ratings are higher than those of other countries analyzed in the study, highlighting the strong workplace culture in our area,” Khanna said.

An astounding 80% of Indian workers expressed high levels of satisfaction with their organization’s culture, rating it as “good” or “excellent.”

However, when it came to the variables impacting organizational loyalty among Indian workers, the survey found that 39% of them mentioned low pay as their main motivation for looking for a new job.

According to the report, Indian workers have the lowest commitment ratings when compared to workers in other assessed nations, even if they tout positive workplace features like work/life integration, career fulfillment, and fair leadership practices.
