In order to power certain AI features on iPhones in 2024, Apple wants Google’s assistance

This year, Apple is aggressively working to integrate AI technology into iPhones; these developments are anticipated to be included in the next iOS 18 release. To provide users with new features and tools, the business is apparently eager to employ other AI models already in place to run iOS for iPhones. According to a Bloomberg story published on Monday, Apple is reportedly in discussions with Google and OpenAI to see if their AI models may be used to include certain on-cloud generative AI capabilities for iPhone users earlier this year.

With its on-device AI architecture, Apple may be having trouble generating text and images for iPhones, thus, the firm is probably going to depend on one of these startups to provide such features. Although it is intriguing to watch Apple search for AI partners, it is not shocking in the slightest that it would collaborate with competitors to provide AI capabilities to its clientele. With its emphasis on AI technologies, Apple has expressed a desire to take a different approach.

The firm is looking at external alliances as a backup plan since it seems that some of its internal procedures haven’t gone as planned, as seen by the fact that it is speaking with Google and even OpenAI. However, the source claims that Apple is now merely in talks with Google, so we cannot be certain whether a deal will be reached, at least not before WWDC 2024, which is scheduled for June of this year. In any case, it will be interesting to watch, particularly if Tim Cook’s huge AI drive at Apple materializes in 2024 as it prepares to join the fiercely competitive and rapidly expanding market this year.

Google has previously made it clear that it wants to collaborate with other businesses to use AI technology to power their platforms. The startup wants other manufacturers to think about using its AI model to power these gadgets, and it is now providing Gemini on Samsung’s most recent Galaxy S24 smartphones. Recently, Google has been dealing with its own AI-related problems, particularly with the AI picture generator that had to be put out to correct a “unacceptable mistake.”

According to industry projections, AI-powered smartphones are expected to be a profitable and rapidly growing market in the near future, with major players such as Google, Apple, and OpenAI.
