Indian Railways intends to operate 9111 trips and increase summer train services by 43%

In an effort to meet the increasing demand for travel around the nation, Indian Railways plans to increase the number of trains it operates this summer.

The Railway Ministry announced intentions to boost train services by an astounding 43% over the previous year.

“To make travel convenient for passengers and accommodate the expected surge in summer travel, Indian Railways will be operating a record-breaking 9,111 train trips during this summer season,” the Railway Ministry said recently, according to The Financial Express.

This increase in train services, which contrasts sharply with the 6,369 trips provided in the summer of 2023, demonstrates Indian Railways’ commitment to efficiently serving the demands of its customers.

The extra train services have been thoughtfully designed to link important locations throughout the country, guaranteeing easy travel along important rail lines. The Western Railway will account for 1,878 of the 9,111 train journeys, closely followed by the North Western Railway with 1,623 excursions. The South Central Railway (1,012 journeys) and the East Central Railway (1,003 trips) will also make significant contributions.

“All of India’s zonal railways are ready to run these extra trains, meeting the demand from different states for summer travel,” the Railway Ministry said, naming states like Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Odisha, and others.

Indian Railways modifies its services in response to customer requests, obtaining feedback from a range of sources, including as press releases, social media posts, and the Railway Integrated hotline number 139. In order to determine demand on certain routes, information on passengers who are waitlisted in the Passenger Reservation System (PRS) is also examined.

The ministry stressed that the procedures involved in scheduling and operating more trains are ongoing and are constantly modified to accommodate changing passenger demands.

Apart from augmenting train services, Zonal Railways has been directed by the government to guarantee the provision of potable water at railway stations during the summer months. Major stations have implemented sophisticated crowd control procedures, and top police keep an eye on things to effectively manage crowds.

At foot-over bridges, the ministry has stationed Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) officers to avoid stampede-like scenarios and congestion during peak hours.

Indian Railways is still dedicated to giving every traveler a convenient and enjoyable travel experience. Tickets for these extra trains may be purchased via the IRCTC website/app or at railway ticket counters.
