Nifty Closes Above 19,750; Sensex Closes 276 Points Higher; Tata Investments Down 5%

As increases in industry giants like Titan Company, Reliance Industries, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Airtel, and Tata Steel bolstered confidence, benchmark indexes ended a three-day losing streak.

The Nifty50 closed at 19,783, up 89 points, or 0.45%, from the previous trading session. The S&P BSE Sensex gained 276 points, or 0.42 percent, to close at 65,931 levels.

The other gainers on the 50-pack index were SBI Life, HDFC Life, Adani Enterprises, Hindalco, and Divis Labs. These equities all had gains ranging from 1% to 2.7%.

The indexes continued to rise in the wider market, but they did not outperform their frontline rivals. Closed percentage increases for the BSE MidCap and SmallCap indexes were 0.14 percent and 0.20 percent, respectively.

Sector-wise, the Nifty Metal index increased by 1.22 percent, Nifty Realty by 1.13 percent, and Nifty Media by 1.12 percent. The Nifty PSU Bank index had a 0.35 percent decline.

World Cues

The US indexes saw significant increases overnight thanks to a noteworthy decline in US Treasury rates and a robust increase in Microsoft shares after the latter’s hiring of Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, who was fired. The Dow Jones increased by 204 points and was down less than 1% from its closing record. The S&P 500 closed 0.7% higher while the Nasdaq surged by more than 1%.

The US trade activity will be guided by Nvidia’s results and the US FOMC minutes later tonight.

Taiwan and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng both had gains of more than 1% in Asia. Kospi also increased by 0.9%. The Shanghai indexes in China increased by around 0.5%. On the other hand, the Nikkei in Japan fell 0.2%.
