Diesel has decreased in price by 59 paise and gasoline by 60 paise in Chhattisgarh. In Maharashtra, the price of diesel has decreased by 45 paise and that of petrol by 46 paise. West Bengal, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh have all experienced decreases in the cost of gasoline and diesel. However, the cost of gasoline and diesel is increasing in Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, and Karnataka.

Speaking about crude oil, its price has dropped once again in the last day on the international market. Brent oil is now trading at $ 80.01 per barrel. WTI is now trading at $75.50 a barrel as well.

Right now, a litre of petrol costs Rs 96.72 in Delhi, while a litre of diesel costs Rs 89.62. In contrast, a liter of diesel costs Rs 94.27 and a litre of petrol costs Rs 106.31 in Mumbai. In Kolkata, a liter of petrol costs Rs 106.03, while a litre of diesel costs Rs 92.76. However, in Chennai, a liter of diesel is sold for Rs 94.24 and a gallon of petrol for Rs 102.63.

The pricing of gasoline and diesel in India are set by oil marketing companies (OMCs) such Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum, and Hindustan Petroleum. Every day, this is carried out, and rates are established based on global crude oil prices.

Why do gas prices differ across states?

Every day at six in the morning, the rates are released, whether they are new or not. However, they differ from one state to the next because of factors like local taxes, freight costs, value added tax (VAT), etc.
