Now, all GST-registered companies must geocode their addresses: GSTN

On Friday, GST Network said that it has geocoded 1.8 crore registered company locations and that all states and UTs now had access to the facility.

Geocoding may be used to verify fake registrations and determine the precise location of a registered business.

In a few states, the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has already tested geocoding.

The option for geocoding the primary place of business address is now available for all States and Union territories, according to a GSTN update to enterprises.

In order to assure the correctness of address facts in GSTN records and speed the address location and verification procedure, this technology was implemented that translates an address or description of a place into geographic coordinates.

“GSTN has geocoded more than 1.8 crore addresses of major commercial locations effectively. Additionally, all new addresses registered after March 2022 are geocoded at the moment of registration, guaranteeing the quality and uniformity of address data right away, according to GSTN.

Businesses may use the geocoding feature on the portal, where the geocoded address created by the system will be shown.

Depending on their needs, businesses may either accept it or change it. If the geocoded address created by the system isn’t accessible, a blank will be shown and you may amend the geocoded address yourself, according to GSTN.
