Outage on Facebook and Instagram triggers a reaction from Meta

On Friday, hundreds of people were unable to access Facebook and Instagram, which are owned by Meta Platforms, according to the outage monitoring website Downdetector.com.

Over 12,000 people reported access issues with Facebook, while over 6,600 users reported access issues with Instagram.

On Downdetector, which analyses outages by compiling status data from many sources including user-submitted faults on its platform, Meta’s messaging app, WhatsApp, also had over 1,300 outage complaints.

On Friday, Meta Platforms said that it was aware of problems with their advertising platform, advertisements Manager, which enables businesses to purchase and generate Facebook advertisements.

On its status page, Meta said, “Our engineering teams are aware and are actively working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.”

Thousands of users on the outage-tracking website Downdetector.com reported experiencing issues with the company’s social networking applications soon before the status change.

According to Downdetector, a total of over 15,000 users reported access issues to Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.

“We’re conscious of the fact that certain customers are experiencing problems using our goods. We apologise for any inconvenience and are striving to rapidly restore everything to normal, according to a Meta representative.

By combining status information from many sources, including user-submitted problems on its platform, Downdetector keeps track of outages. There’s a chance that more customers are being impacted by the outage.
