RBI deputy governor reappointed Rabi Sankar

MUMBAI: T Rabi Sankar has been reappointed by the Central government as the RBI’s deputy governor. His new term will begin on May 3, 2024, and will last until further instructions.

Sankar became deputy governor in May 2021. He graduated from Jawaharlal Nehru University with a M Phil in economics. He held the position of executive director at RBI before being appointed.
He started working for the RBI in 1990 and has since held a number of positions with responsibility in public debt management, financial markets, and payments and settlement.

His areas of expertise include monetary operations, exchange rate management, reserves portfolio management, public debt management, and the creation, oversight, and regulation of financial markets.
