Users call it a “terrible idea” for Musk to remove the Block function from the X

Many users were upset by Elon Musk’s announcement that the block function on X (previously Twitter) is being eliminated and that users would only be able to ban people through direct messages (DMs).

Block prevents other users from contacting, viewing, and following a certain account.

According to Musk, the social networking site would still include the ‘Mute’ option.

The tech tycoon informed a follower that “Block is going to be deleted as a “feature,” with the exception of DMs.”

“It makes no sense,” he continued.

Musk had suggested in June that blocking be replaced with “a stronger form of mute” on Twitter.

He often brooded over coordinated attempts to restrict Twitter Blue subscribers.

Many users saw the Block option as a safety measure, therefore the plan to remove it was met with opposition from worried users.

“In my view, it’s valuable to have. Unfortunately, spammers and trolls emerge. Haters will constantly attempt to get attention by trolling accounts and smearing their reputation, therefore having control over the situation is important. According to the Tesla Owners Silicon Valley account, “at least for each user.”

Another worried user said, “Women will never be able to block abusers and those men will still be able to follow and stalk.”

Jack Dorsey, a co-founder of Twitter, has endorsed Musk.

“100% mute only,” he said in his message.

The majority of X users, however, deemed it “a terrible idea” to remove the Block option.
