Candles lit, lights off: Imtiaz remembers a wonderful moment in Rahman’s studio

Entertainer Imtiaz Ali, who is eager for his next streaming film “Amar Singh Chamkila” to debut, recounted a wonderful incident that occurred during the music-writing process.

In an interview with IANS, the director said that writing the song “Bida Karo” was a different experience.

In the story framework, the song appears in the last moments of Diljit Dosanjh’s eponymous character.

“For me, the magical moment was when Rahman sir said, ‘Let’s put the lights off and light the candles’ in the middle of the night,” Imtiaz told IANS. Then he began to play the piano. Rahman sir, Irshad (the lyricist, Irshad Kamil), and I were talking about something.

That is how “Amar Singh Chamkila” introduced “Bida Karo.” Irshad, who usually likes to get home early, created the song right then and then. “The entire encounter was extraordinary,” he continued.
