The new parent recalled how Vidhu Vinod Chopra had shot him without makeup, and that after telling him about the skin burn, the director had suggested they shoot it raw. “He declared that we would no longer require cosmetics, calling this a blessing. We’d be entering uncooked,” the performer recalled. He did stress, though, that the character’s emotional transformation was more difficult than her physical transformation.
“The toughest part of this journey for me, however, was the emotional weight that came with playing this character,” the actor stated while discussing the hardest portion of the movie.
