Doctors believed Sharon Stone was “faking” her brain hemorrhage, according to her

The actress Sharon Stone has said that after her brain hemorrhage in 2001, medical professionals believed she was fabricating the whole affair. The actress left Hollywood after learning that she had just a 1% chance of surviving her 2001 tragedy.

The 65-year-old “Basic Instinct” actress recounted the event in an interview with Vogue, telling how she was sent to the hospital after experiencing a “lightning bolt-like” headache, according to People.

Stone recalled asking the child pushing the cart where she was going when she woke up and he replied, “Brain surgery.” “Without my knowledge or consent, a doctor had decided to send me to the operating room for exploratory brain surgery.”

“What I learned through that experience is that in a medical setting, women often just aren’t heard, particularly when you don’t have a female doctor,” the ‘Total Recall’ actress said.

She said that the doctors first failed to notice her brain hemorrhage because they were treating the case extremely casually. “They concluded that I was faking it after missing it on the first angiogram.”

Still, Stone’s closest friend supported and stood with her. “My closest friend persuaded them to give me another one, and that’s when they found out that my vertebral artery was ruptured, and I had been leaking blood into my brain and entire subarachnoid pool,” Stone said. “If they had sent me home, I would have died.”

She had trouble walking and lost a lot of weight during her hospital stay. “My left foot was dragging severely, I was stuttering badly, and the right side of my face fell due to excessive bleeding into my subarachnoid pool (head, neck, and spine).”

Stone didn’t disclose her health issue until about 20 years later. She gave an explanation for her desire to keep her illness a secret, saying, “I hid my disability.” I didn’t want others to know that I was scared to walk outside. I just believed that I would be rejected.

According to Stone, who spoke with People, she feels more at ease sharing what has really occurred to her in public now. She also said that she wanted to pretend for a while that everything was well.
