Meet the sisters who began their careers in Bollywood the same year; only one went on to become a superstar, while the other gave up performing

The narrative we would want to tell today is not well known. This is the tale of two Bollywood sisters who made their big screen debuts in the same year and rose to fame, but unfortunately, only one of them became a celebrity, leaving the other, even though she was a smash, to live a life of obscurity.

Today, we are discussing Farha Naaz and Tabu, who are the two true sisters. In 1985, these two women made their debuts in motion pictures. Tabu and her sister used to reside in Hyderabad in the 1980s. Sushma Anand, the wife of filmmaker Vijay Anand, and their mother Rizwana Hashmi were formerly close friends.

Dev Anand, the brother of Vijay Anand, once seen Farha Naaz and Tabu at a party. At the time, he was casting a fresh face for the character of his school-age daughter Priya in the movie “Hum Naujawan.” He took the decision to sign Farha Naaz for a movie later on and chose Tabu for the part. Yash Chopra was searching for a new heroine for “Faasle” at the time, and he ultimately decided to cast Farha Naaz in the movie.

These two movies, Hum Naujawan and Faasle, were both released in the same year. Farha Naaz collaborated with Sunil Dutt, Rekha, Rohan Kapoor, and Deepti Naval on her first motion picture. But the was a failure and could not hold up on screen.

‘Hum Naujawan’, a film that Tabu costarred in, was a box office failure as well.

However, Tabu and Farha Naaz kept receiving a lot of film offers despite the fact that both of these movies were box office failures.

Naseeb Apna-Apna, Imandaar, Woh Phir Aayegi, Nakaab, Yatem, Baap Nambari Beta Dus Nambari, and Begunah are just a few of the popular movies that Farha Naaz has helmed.

After making a name for herself, Farha Naaz was predicted to become the next big thing. However, she gave up performing in 1996 after her first marriage to Vindu Dara Singh. She did a few TV serials, but nothing major.

After filing for divorce in 2002, Farha Naaz wed actor Sumeet Saigal a second time in less than a year thereafter. She eventually stopped performing and became unrecognizable in the profession after this.

Tabu, the sister of Farha Naaz, is still going strong in South Indian and Bollywood movies, as well as Telugu and Tamil films. At the moment, she’s regarded as one of the most sought-after actors in the business.
