Over Rs 20 crore is made at the box office by “Ghilli.”

The Tamil film ‘Ghilli’ was released in 2004 and the movie after two decades, was re-released in theatres on April 20, 2024. The movie received a grand welcome from fans and upon its re-release it broke many records. Directed by Dharani, the film is a romantic comedy starring Vijay and Trisha in lead roles and it is one of the cult classics of Vijay in Tamil cinema.

The movie on day 1 managed to gross Rs 10 crore at the box office breaking the record by becoming the second film in 2024 to have the highest opening and it even grossed more than ‘Ayalaan’ and ‘Lal Slaam’. The fim in 5 days has now grossed Rs 20 crore at the box office in Tamil Nadu.

The movie was re-released in 320 theatres last week and has set an impressive record on the Tamil film re-releases this year. ‘Ghilli’ has become the highest grosser ever for a re-released film and the movie just joined the Rs 20 crore club. The film is the official remake of the Telugu film ‘Okkadu’ that starred Mahesh Babu.
The movie is expected to run in theatres in the coming week as well as fans and movie audiences are excited to watch the movie in theatres and relive the experience as they get nostalgic.
