This bomb of a movie, which was shot for Rs 80 crore, had three celebrities, including two star kids, and only grossed Rs

From the Sonam Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor film Saawariya to the Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma, and Katrina Kaif film Zero, there have been other Bollywood films that have failed miserably at the box office and sustained significant losses. The romantic war drama Rangoon, directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, is one movie on our list that a lot of people have forgotten.

The 2017 film included two celebrity kids and an outsider who has always spoken out against nepotism, which made for an intriguing ensemble. Kangana Ranaut is the outsider under discussion, and the two star children are Saif Ali Khan, the late Indian cricketer Mansoon Ali Khan Pataudi, and Shahid Kapoor, the actor son of Pankaj Kapoor and Neelima Azeem.

Because Rangoon was set during World War II and had three outstanding performers, it was also one of the most anticipated movies since its release. It was Vishal Bhardwaj’s comeback with Shahid after the 2009 film Kaminey and the 2014 feature Haider, and with Saif following the 2006 film Omkara. For the first time, Kangana Ranaut collaborated with the multiple National Award-winning director. She portrayed the iconic Bollywood character Miss Julia, who was modeled by Australian stuntwoman Mary Ann Evans, also known as Fearless Nadia, who was a well-known star of Hindi action movies throughout the 1930s and 1940s. In the film, Khan portrayed Bollywood producer Rustom Billimoria, a character modeled off the well-known producer Homi Wadia, who worked on Fearless Nadia’s films and wed her in 1961. In the Indian National Army, led by Subhas Chandra Bose, Kapoor portrayed the fictitious freedom warrior Jamadar Nawab Malik, who battled for Indian independence.

Rangoon, which cost an astounding Rs 80 crore to make, was a huge commercial flop. The movie only managed to make Rs 20.76 crore net in India, while its global gross profits were Rs 39.80 crore, not quite half of its budget, according to the entertainment monitoring service Sacnilk. The film, which was directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, ended up being one of Bollywood’s worst failures.
