NEW DELHI: On Tuesday, the legendary Indian batsman Virat Kohli and his spouse Anushka Sharma excitedly announced the birth of their baby, naming him ‘Akaay’. Virat, who withdrew from the five-match Test series against England for personal reasons, shared the touching news on social media.

“We are happy to announce to everyone that on February 15th, we welcomed our baby boy, Akaay & Vamika’s little brother, into the world with all of our love and abundance,” Virat wrote.

“At this wonderful moment in our life, we ask for your blessings and well wishes. At this moment, we humbly ask that you respect our privacy. Gratitude and love. Virat went on to write, “Virat & Anushka.”

What does this unusual name ‘Akaay’ mean?
The Sanskrit word akaay, which means “body-less” or “Nirakaar,” has several cultural connotations, including a brilliant moon in Turkish.
The name Akaay means “immortal” or “something that doesn’t decay” in Sanskrit.
In December 2017, Anushka and Virat, who are adored by their fans as “Virushka,” tied the knot in Italy. Vamika, Anushka and Virat’s baby, was brought into the world in 2021.
