What Kristen Stewart Really Wanted To Do In Twilight With Edward Cullen

AllThe latest Twilight film, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn—Part 2, was released in 2012, more than ten years ago. Nonetheless, there is still a strong and engaged fan audience for the romantic fantasy movie. Twilight, despite its enormous fan base and financial achievements, is still criticized for depicting its lead character, Bella Swan, as docile and unquestioningly fixated on her romantic life. Robert Pattinson’s portrayal of Edward Cullen has also been criticized for being domineering and aggressive. Recently, Bella Swan actress Kristen Stewart had similar feelings about Twilight.

Stewart made an appearance on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast while promoting her most recent movie, Love Lies Bleeding. Stewart said that if she had been in charge, she would have ended Bella and Edward’s relationship because of Edward’s excessive control when the topic of Twilight and their relationship came up. “He (Edward) was attempting to sort of control whether or not she (Bella) made decisions for herself,” the woman said. I would have ended our relationship right away.

Stewart said, “I mean, if I was like, ‘Hey, I want to try that,’ and he was like, ‘No, this is just for me,’ I would be like, ‘Well, this is also just for me,'” in reference to Edward rejecting Bella’s desire to become a vampire. Stewart said that she could see Edward’s protectiveness for Bella, but she also stated that “you gotta let a girl make her own choices.”

Twillight’s TV adaptation was revealed earlier this month by Michael Burns, Vice Chairman of Lionsgate. Many had anticipated a live-action series, so it surprised them when Burns revealed that the TV relaunch would be produced as an animated series. Stephenie Meyer, the author, is anticipated to contribute to the series as well. It’s still unknown how closely the TV adaptation will follow the novels or whether it will go off course.
