Update for Monsoon 2024: IMD Provides the Date of Kerala Monsoon Arrival

After May 15th, there is a spike in anticipation for the monsoon season. Due to the little rainfall last year, farmers in the state incurred significant losses. The Met department provided an update on the monsoon a few days ago. There’s a new update available now. This year, the monsoon is probably going to arrive early. In Kerala, the monsoon is probably going to begin around May 31. Additionally, heat wave conditions are expected in north-west India between May 16 and May 18, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Kerala typically experiences the southwest monsoon around June 1 and it lasts for about seven days. Kerala is expected to be affected by this year’s southwest monsoon around the 31st, according to the IMD. There might be a four-day difference or four days more. This information is a crucial predictor of the monsoon season nationwide.

The Meteorological Department predicts that on May 19, the monsoon will likely arrive in Andaman and Nicobar. It often arrives in the zone between May 20 and 22. The monsoon will go on to other areas of the nation after arriving here. The nation’s El Nino weather pattern is waning. The state of La Niña is intensifying. There are indications that this year’s monsoon will be excellent. As a result, according to the IMD, the monsoon may arrive in India early.

On Thursday, Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Bihar are predicted to have hot and muggy weather. The maximum temperature in several areas of northwest and east India is expected to climb by 3–4 degrees Celsius over the course of the next four days, while it will rise by 2–4 degrees Celsius in Gujarat and central India.

East India is expected to experience a heatwave starting on May 18 and northwest India starting on Thursday. Up to May 16–19, heatwave conditions are predicted to persist throughout west Rajasthan, Punjab, south Haryana, east Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and some areas of Gujarat. On May 15–16 in the Konkan, May 16–17 in Saurashtra and Kutch, and May 18–19 in Delhi, Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Odisha, heatwave conditions are also predicted.
