Zendaya declares Jennifer Lopez’s Versace gown at the Met Gala to be the greatest dress ever

The Met Gala, the biggest event in fashion, is coming back to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Millions of people watch the red carpet event at this important event, which brings together celebrities, art fans, and fashion designers from all over the world. A select few well-known people are given the chance to co-chair the event, which involves managing the guest lists, cuisines, and décor arrangements.

This year, Jennifer Lopez and Zendaya will be co-chairing, with Zendaya taking center stage. Fashion aficionados continue to be inspired by JLo’s stunning Versace green jungle gown from the 2000 Grammy Awards, which she wore. Over the years, she has donned other classic designs. It’s interesting to note that Lopez’s daring deep neckline gown seems to have charmed even Zendaya.

At the recent red carpet event for her next film The Challengers, the Spider-Man actress fielded questions on her famous style and which old JLo outfits really impressed her. Zendaya said, “I think the one that always comes to mind is obviously the Versace, the iconic deep V,” without hesitation.

Donatella Versace created the jungle gown that Jennifer Lopez wore at the 2000 Grammy Awards. The gown soon rose to prominence as one of the fashion industry’s most iconic looks. The Boy Next Door actress unexpectedly made a cameo during the Versace SS20 presentation during Milan Fashion Week in 2019, giving the garment a glamorous rebirth. The audience was treated to a film showing Google searches for the original green gown after a round of models’ runway walks. Subsequently, Lopez dazzled the crowd with a spectacular entrance in her trademark way.

In a previous interview with Vanity Fair, Jennifer Lopez discussed the Versace gown, stating, “The first time I wore it, I actually didn’t have another dress.” Normally, I have options. It was an unforeseen experience brought on by something that happened at the last minute. The second attempt was well prepared. Donatella remarked, “You know, this year is the 20th anniversary of the jungle dress,” and when I answered no, she added, “I think I’m going to do a whole show about it.” It all began at the Met Ball. Would you be able to attend? And I said, “Obviously.” Give me a call. It’s all about time and scheduling, you know.”

After that, she called and said, “I want you to come out of the dress and walk at the end.” the same outfit. For you, we’ll create a new one. It was very powerful the second time I wore it and went outside. The singer said, “I think that knowing you can still wear a dress twenty years later resonated with women. Twenty years have passed.”

Every year on the first Monday in May, the Met Gala is held; this year, it will be on May 6. This year’s event’s subject is “The Garden of Time,” which draws inspiration from J.G. Ballard’s 1962 short story of the same name. In addition to Zendaya and Jennifer, Chris Hemsworth and Bad Bunny will serve as co-chairs of the event. In addition, TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew and Loewe creative director Jonathan Anderson were invited as honorary chairman.
